5 Day Gorilla Trekking Safari in Northern Rwanda

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

  • City tour of Kigali (optional):
    • Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
    • Explore local markets and art galleries.

• Afternoon:

• • Scenic drive (approx. 2.5 hours) to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience

• Morning:

• • Early breakfast at the lodge.
  • Transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for briefing on gorilla trekking rules.
  • Begin the once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trek, which lasts between 2 to 6 hours, depending on gorilla location.
  • Spend one magical hour observing a gorilla family in their natural habitat.

• Afternoon:

• • Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
  • Optional: Massage/spa treatment at the lodge.

• Evening:

• • Cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwandan traditions, music, and dance.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking & Twin Lakes Excursion

• • Visit the scenic Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo for a boat ride and birdwatching.
